Frequently Asked Questions

How is the Gnat Score calculated?
The Gnat Score is generated using a combination of real-time weather data (temperature, wind, humidity), local geography (proximity to salt marshes, elevation), tide levels, and real-time community reports.
How do I submit a BiteRep?
Tap the red triangle warning icon on the main map screen. You can select the intensity of the swarms and let others know what deterrents (if any) are working for you.
Can I delete a BiteRep I submitted by mistake?
Yes. Tap on your own report dot on the map, and you will be prompted with an option to delete it.
Why does the map tell me it is wind dependent?
Gnats are weak flyers. If the wind speed is high enough, they are forced to ground. However, if you step into a sheltered area (like dense woods or behind a building), the wind drops and you may be swarmed.
